I am delighted that I have been invited to speak at the prestigious CLSA Investor Forum in Hong Kong, September 23-27, 2013. It was always one of my favourite events when I was a fund manager, often eye-opening and always thought-provoking. I witnessed some awesome presentations there.
President Clinton was the most amazing and charismatic personality; you knew that he was in the hotel lobby even if you could not see him; Sir Bob Geldof inspired me to want to invest in Africa, speaking for over an hour without notes, hesitation or repetition; Al Gore's introduction "I used to be the next President of the United States" was even better than the immaculately coiffured Steve Wynn's "I am told that $1 trillion of assets is represented in this room; and here am I doing an IPO.......... what a coincidence!"
I doubt I will be half as good as any of them, but I have an interesting presentation to give on "The Folly of Footy Finance - Why Premier League Clubs haemorrhage cash". I am grateful to CLSA for the invitation to speak and I am looking forward to the event, and when I return, I shall post a few highlights of the presentation on the site. CLSA clients will be able to watch the video and see the slides on the CLSA site.
